HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management
Are you deploying containerized or virtualized workloads (such as CNFs or VNFs) in your network, but are wrestling with the complexity of managing an underlying physical infrastructure made up of highly-distributed systems from multiple vendors? The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management delivers a standards-based resource management capability enabling both enterprises and communications service providers to simplify management of multi-vendor, heterogeneous, distributed compute, storage, and data networking physical infrastructure with the scalability and flexibility that such deployments require. Acting as an abstraction and aggregation layer between deployed systems' diverse proprietary and legacy management interfaces and DMTF Redfish®-compliant management systems, the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management enables simplified, automated management and orchestration of multi-vendor network infrastructure.
What's New
- Support for the Red Hat® OpenShift Container Platform
- Support for Kubernetes operators to automate BMC-related tasks
- Ability for northbound clients to subscribe to events from aggregates of devices
- Ability for clients to install HPE iLO licenses on HPE servers through HPE Resource Aggregator's northbound application programming interface (API)
- Southbound IPv6 support through HPE iLO for ODIM plug-in, enabling server management over IPv4 and IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack management networks
- Redfish compliance updated to DMTF Redfish Schema 2022.1
Key Features
Simplified Integration with Management and Orchestration Systems
The RESTful APIs of HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management's and support for the Redfish® data model allow easier integration with current and future management and orchestration systems.
Its industry standards-based approach maps data center resources—compute, storage, and Ethernet fabric—onto a DMTF Redfish data model that can be easily automated and managed.
Deployed as containers in the customer's virtualized data center environment, the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management and its HPE iLO plug-in can themselves be managed using common Kubernetes container management tools.
Open, Standards-Compliant, and Vendor-Neutral
The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management complies with the industry standard DMTF Redfish data model. Its Redfish-compliant northbound RESTful API can be utilized by a variety of management, automation and orchestration applications and tools.
The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management supports multi-vendor deployments. Plugins translate proprietary and legacy management protocols into a JSON-based RESTful API based on the Redfish schema.
The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management is based on code from the open source Linux® Foundation (LF) Networking ODIM project (of which Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a founding member).
Open source plug-ins from the LF Networking ODIM project extend multi-vendor compatibility. The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management has been validated with open source plug-ins for Dell servers, Lenovo servers, and Cisco ACI Ethernet fabric.
Extensible Architecture
The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management features a plug-in-based architecture that allows support for HPE and other vendors' infrastructure components (compute, storage, and Ethernet fabric).
The HPE iLO plug-in leverages the functionality of HPE iLO 5 (v2.71 or later) built into Hewlett Packard Enterprise ProLiant servers, to enhance the manageability of those servers in a distributed infrastructure environment.
The Aruba Fabric Composer (v6.1.2) includes a plugin that works with the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management to enhance the manageability of network fabric based on select Aruba switches.
HPE publishes a detailed plug-in developer's guide to provide developers a set of guidelines for creating new plug-ins to work with the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management.
