Service planning and coordination

An HPE service specialist will plan the necessary activities, including the identification of any prerequisites (see “eligibility” section) and schedule the delivery of the service at a time mutually agreed upon by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the Customer.

The HPE service specialist will provide the planning and coordination activities detailed in this table, either remotely or on-site, at HPE’s discretion

Service planning and coordination activities include:

• Verifying prerequisites using the predelivery checklist
• Reviewing the SAN connectivity and supportability of the intended HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Library Base Module
• Delivering a brief consultation to guide the Customer

Upgrade activities

The spooling mechanism upgrade is performed in three steps:

• Documenting the library configuration
• Replacing the spooling mechanism
• Enabling the configuration

Documenting the library configuration: An HPE service specialist will record the existing HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Library Base Module hardware configuration, and update the library firmware (if necessary), prior to performing the following tasks:

Replacing the spooling mechanism:

• Power off the library
• Remove the magazine
• Prepare and then remove the robotic assembly and spooling mechanism from the base module
• Install the robotic assembly and spooling mechanism into the base module and completing robotic installation
• Power on the library

Enabling the configuration: Verify the upgrade procedure

Validation

An HPE service specialist will run the HPE standard validation tests required for this service and specific to the product being upgraded.

Customer orientation

On the same day as the upgrade services are performed, an HPE authorized service specialist will conduct a high-level review not to exceed one hour to show the functionality of the upgraded components and their operation
