Are you struggling to extract business value from the massive amounts of data produced in a plant, branch office, retail outlet, or Internet-of-Things (IoT) edge? Is business agility affected because it’s too slow, expensive or risky to send information from the edge to a data center or cloud for later analysis?
The HPE Edgeline EL1000 Converged Edge System is an industry first, integrating unprecedented levels of edge compute, precision data capture and control, data center-class security, device, and systems management, as well as large and blazingly fast storage capabilities – in one converged box. This rugged and compact system is designed to perform in harsher edge environments with higher shock, vibration and temperature levels. It is perfect for expanding your IoT infrastructure beyond traditional data center confines and can also help break cloud vendor lock-in to enable true edge computing.
This is achieved through three points of convergence in one box.
Provides legacy manufacturing integration for predictive maintenance.
Delivers real-time analysis and condition monitoring.
Permits real-time monitoring and control.
Facilitates data management and video analytics at the edge.
Aids asset monitoring and management.
Enables the intelligent edge workspace.
Key Features
Delivers Unprecedented Deep Edge Compute and High Capacity Storage, Based on Open Standards
Traditional data center or cloud solutions for IoT require data to be transferred from the edge – exposing them to potential issues of latency, bandwidth, cost, security, duplication, corruption and compliance. The HPE Edgeline EL1000 Converged Edge System eliminates these risks.
The HPE Edgeline EL1000 can acquire data, analyze it on an industry-standard x86 deep compute platform, drive high-performance displays for operators, and initiate control actions in real-time, at the edge, removing transfer issues to result in faster insights and business agility.
The compact form factor runs unmodified enterprise-class analytics software, such as HPE Vertica, and each server is engineered to deliver very high performance.
It can also be configured with either an HPE ProLiant m510 (Intel® Xeon® D, 8 or 16 core) or an HPE ProLiant m710x (Intel Xeon E3, 4 core with workstation-class GPU) compute node, and HPE ProLiant m750 (Intel Xeon E-2286M, 8 core with integrated GPU compute node.
Hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) options in a variety of form factors (2.5 inch or M.2), and different interface types (SATA or NVMe), can also be selected to help deliver the perfect balance between cost efficiency and extreme storage performance.
Delivers Unique Integration of Data Acquisition, Measurement & Control, Based on Open Standards
The I/O capabilities of the HPE Edgeline EL1000 Converged Edge System is built on open industry standards such as Mini-PCIe, PCI Express, and PXI/PXIe. Select models also include a variety of option I/O cards to support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, 3G/LTE WAN, 10GbE to 40 GbE, InfiniBand or Fibre Channel.
Precision data capture and control capabilities are achieved through open PXI standards. When coupled with automated machine learning, new horizons for equipment monitoring, and management, predictive analytics and augmented reality for manual-less servicing are opened-key for smart factories.
The HPE Edgeline EL1000 also supports I/O expansion using two mini-PCIe cards (with integrated SIM slots) and two PCIe cards or PXI/PXIe (hybrid slot) modules. Two integrated 1 Gb (RJ45) network uplink ports are also available.
Delivers Data Center Class Security, Device and Remote Systems Management
The HPE Edgeline EL1000 Converged Edge System brings industry leading HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) management and security to the edge – the same HPE iLO found in HPE ProLiant servers used in traditional datacenters. A single HPE iLO RJ45 Ethernet port enables deployment, monitoring and support.
The HPE Edgeline EL1000 is also fully compatible with popular IoT security solutions for protection in high-risk edge environments. Aruba ClearPass enables custom profiles to be created to identify and secure IoT devices.
Through real-time interaction with third party security solutions, ClearPass offers automated threat protection and recovery for devices that represent risk, with minimal hands-on IT interaction required.
Aruba Virtual Intranet Access (VIA) enables seamless virtual private network (VPN) tunnels for secure connectivity between edge locations and the corporate network.
HPE Edgeline EL1000 Converged Edge System is designed to reside in environmentally harsh, space-constrained, and/or dusty environments. This compact, ruggedized system is designed to withstand increased shock and vibration, and can also tolerate high operating temperatures up to 55°C (131°F).
When floor space options are limited, a wide range of wall, rack, or shelf mounting options open up a multitude of placement possibilities. Finally, you can easily connect HPE Edgeline Converged Edge Systems to your electrical infrastructure by selecting AC or -48V DC hot-pluggable power supplies.
