What's New

  • Queuing of Requests: For large deployments with many servers, requests (post, patch, and delete) issued by the Resource Aggregator can be queued based on the priority configured for specific URIs.
  • Event subscription caching: To improve system performance, client event subscriptions are cached, rather than pulled from the resource aggregator database for each event.
  • Logging enhancements: For improved supportability, enhancements include improved traceability, Syslog and JSON format support, log-level dynamic updates, as well inclusion of debug logs.
  • Additional scalability and supportability enhancements: Improvements in both database communications and handling of database failovers, and backup/restore procedures for system configurations.
  • HPE ProLiant Gen11 server support: HPE iLO plug-in for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management has been enhanced to support HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers, including attached storage, via HPE iLO 6.

Key Features

Simplified Integration with Management and Orchestration Systems

The RESTful APIs of HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management and support for the Redfish data model allow easier integration with current and future management and orchestration systems.

Its industry standards-based approach maps data center resources—compute, storage, and Ethernet fabric—onto a DMTF Redfish data model that can be easily automated and managed.

Deployed as containers in the customer's virtualized data center environment, the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management and its HPE iLO plug-in can themselves be managed using common Kubernetes container management tools.

Open, Standards-Compliant, and Vendor-Neutral

The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management follows the industry standard DMTF Redfish data model. Various management, automation, and orchestration applications and tools can utilize its Redfish-compliant northbound RESTful API.

The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management supports multi-vendor deployments. Plugins translate proprietary and legacy management protocols into a JSON-based RESTful API based on the Redfish schema.

The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management is based on code from the open source Linux® Foundation (LF) Networking ODIM project (of which Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a founding member).

Open source plug-ins from the LF Networking ODIM project extend multi-vendor compatibility. The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management has been validated with open source plug-ins for Dell servers, Lenovo servers, and Cisco ACI Ethernet fabric.

Extensible Architecture

The HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management features a plug-in-based architecture supports HPE and other vendors' infrastructure components (compute, storage, and Ethernet fabric).

The HPE iLO plug-in leverages the functionality of HPE iLO 5 (v2.78 or later) and HPE iLO 6 (v1.10 or later) built into HPE ProLiant servers, to enhance the manageability of those servers in a distributed infrastructure environment.

The Aruba Fabric Composer (v6.1.2) includes a plugin that works with the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management to enhance the manageability of network fabric based on select Aruba switches.

HPE publishes a detailed plug-in developer's guide to provide developers with guidelines for creating new plug-ins to work with the HPE Resource Aggregator for Open Distributed Infrastructure Management.
