High Density SAN Consolidation with Integrated Multiprotocol Support
The HPE Storage Multiservice Switch C-series SN6640C is available in a base configuration of four ports of 32 Gbps Fibre Channel for high-performance SAN connectivity and two ports of 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet for FCIP storage services, running at a maximum speed of 1 Gbps.
It can be upgraded to enable an additional eight ports of 32 Gbps Fibre Channel by adding the on-demand upgrade license. The upgrade license also enables 10 Gigabit speed on the initial two Ethernet ports, two additional 1/10 Gigabit ports, two 25 Gigabit ports, and one 40 Gigabit port.
It provides flexible connectivity options toward datacenter switches, routers or DWDM systems. Both the 25 G and 40 G options can be very valuable for data with a lower level of compressibility, while the 1 G and 10 G options can meet the needs of small-medium organizations.
Remote SAN Extension with High-Performance FCIP
The HPE Storage Multiservice Switch C-series SN6640C provides FCIP support for business continuity and disaster recovery as a standalone device and a FCIP SAN extension switch for HPE Storage Director Switch C-series SN8700C.
This switch breaks the distance barriers of current Fibre Channel solutions with support for FCIP, enabling interconnection of SAN islands over extended distances.
You will get dramatically enhanced hardware-based FCIP compression performance for both high-bandwidth and low-bandwidth links, which provides immediate cost saving for expensive WAN infrastructure. Used with other hardware-based encryption, it provides high-performance SAN extension capabilities.
