Le unità a nastro HPE StoreEver LTO Ultrium rappresentano nove generazioni di tecnologia LTO e sono in grado di archiviare fino a 45 TB1 per cartuccia, con crittografia dei dati hardware, HPE StoreOpen con LTFS per semplicità di utilizzo e prestazioni straordinarie. La crittografia hardware dei dati che utilizza l'algoritmo AES a 256 bit fornisce una protezione facile da abilitare, per i dati più sensibili e per impedire l'accesso non autorizzato alle cartucce a nastro. LTFS è un formato aperto per l'archiviazione di dati su nastro, che rende i nastri LTO di quinta generazione, e successive, autodescrittivi e basati su file.
