Hitachi FlashCopy Mirroring for Mainframe enhances data availability for mainframe data and improves productivity by providing IBM FlashCopy compatible point-in-time copies within an XP disk array. As soon as a copy is created, it becomes available for use. The copy can be either virtual or physical. If a virtual copy is specified, it remains a pointer-based copy that only saves the changes from the original. However, if a physical copy is specified, a full copy will be completed in the background while both the source and the copy remain available for access.
For additional availability, FlashCopy can be combined with Hitachi ShadowImage for Mainframe, Hitachi TrueCopy for Mainframe, Hitachi Universal Replicator for Mainframe, and Hitachi Extended Remote Copy for Mainframe.
As businesses strive to improve operational efficiency, consolidation of servers and storage becomes an attractive option. HPE XP Disk/Cache Partition Software enables storage administrators in large consolidated storage environments to host multiple diverse user groups on one XP Disk Array while maintaining appropriate isolation between applications. XP Disk/Cache Partition enables you to divide your XP Disk Array into multiple, independent partitions, with each partition having its own host ports, disk parity groups and cache. Applications that would normally compete for resources can share a single disk array without impacting each other. Departments can share a single XP disk array confident that administrators cannot affect portions of the disk array that belong to someone else.
XP Disk/Cache Partition Software allows companies to consolidate a variety of online storage needs onto one central XP disk array.
What I can do to improve the capacity efficiency of my legacy storage volumes without complex data migration or professional services?
HPE 3PAR Thin Conversion Software leverages the zero-detection capabilities within the HPE 3PAR Gen3 ASIC to drive the conversion of inefficient, “fat” volumes on legacy arrays to more efficient, higher utilization “thin” volumes on HPE 3PAR Storage Systems. This “thinning” of volumes enables data centers to meet Green IT targets, eliminate wasted space, and increase utilization rates. Because the fat-to-thin conversion mechanism is built into array hardware, volume conversions take place inline, at wire speeds, while preserving service levels, and without disruption to production workloads. With Thin Conversion, a technology refresh no longer requires a terabyte-for-terabyte replacement, but instead offers the opportunity to reduce capacity requirements by 50 percent or more without the need to invest in professional services.
What good are thin provisioning savings if they can’t be preserved over time?
An industry first, HPE 3PAR Thin Persistence Software means that thin volumes on the HPE 3PAR Storage System stay as lean and efficient as possible by leveraging the HPE 3PAR Gen3 ASIC to reclaim unused space associated with deleted data—simply, quickly, and non-disruptively. Writing and deleting large amounts of data can leave unused space within thin volumes. Even lots of small writes and deletions can eventually reduce the efficiency of thin volumes. This logical deletion of data without actually freeing up unused space creates a hidden utilization penalty that can really add up over time. HPE 3PAR Thin Persistence Software reclaims this unused space to increase capacity efficiency, keep costs down, and help defer the purchase of additional capacity to handle new data growth. Thin Persistence also helps enterprises maintain sustainability targets by keeping down data center power and cooling needs.
Do you have storage pools that aren’t really efficient?
HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning Software solves the problem of inefficient capacity utilization by breaking the traditional linkage between allocated and purchased capacity. Demand for thin provisioning solutions combined with increased attention to data center power consumption has put pressure on vendors to introduce thin provisioning solutions, but bolt-on implementations can’t deliver the simplicity or the efficiency of Thin Provisioning.
With HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning, capacity is dedicated and configured autonomically, just-in-time, and without active management. Rather than create separate pools of storage, the software creates one pool from which capacity is dedicated only as data is actually written. And while other thin provisioning implementations use coarse allocation units that can range from 1 MB to 17 GB, HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning uses a fine-grained, 16 KB allocation unit to increase system efficiency.
Do you want the ability to replicate data to remote locations more efficiently and cost effectively? HPE 3PAR Remote Copy Software provides enterprise and cloud data centers with autonomic replication and Tier1 disaster recovery technology that allows the protection and sharing of data from any application simply, efficiently, and affordably.
Remote Copy Software dramatically reduces the cost of remote data replication and disaster recovery by leveraging thin copy technology and enabling replication with midrange, all-flash, and high-end arrays to deliver unique cost efficiencies for protecting a broader set of applications. Set up and test in minutes, reducing the need for professional services.
With support for Synchronous, Asynchronous Periodic and multi-site, Synchronous Long Distance replication, 3PAR Remote Copy delivers a rich portfolio of replication options for customers to achieve stringent recovery time objectives (RTO) and fast recovery point objectives (RPOs).
The HPE StoreFront Analytics software provides customers using HPE 3PAR StoreServ storage with dashboards to gain deep insights and visibility into log analytics of the storage infrastructure.
HPE StoreFront Analytics integrates directly into VMware vRealize Log Insight through dashboards and custom fields specific to HPE storage. This dashboard allows VMware vSphere administrators to quickly view storage logs and errors and allows to easier troubleshoot scenarios that span across virtual and physical layers, which includes the HPE 3PAR StoreServ layer.
By actively analyzing and providing alerts of virtual machines, datastores and storage, the VMware vSphere administrator's productivity increases, as does the ability to rapidly identify and troubleshoot potential problems and ensure consistent, predictable quality of service.
The HPE StoreEasy 1X60 Recovery Software Media Kit contains a System Recovery USB key that is used to re-install the factory operating system image. Booting the system from the System Recovery media will restore the operating system image and logical drive to the factory default state. This enables recovery of the system if all other means to boot the system fail.
HPE Library and Tape Tools is a free, downloadable, and robust diagnostic tool for all Hewlett Packard Enterprise tape storage products. Provided for untrained administrators as well as experienced professionals, it is ideal for customers who want to verify their installation, facilitate product reliability, perform their own diagnostics, and achieve faster resolution of tape device issues. HPE Library and Tape Tools performs firmware upgrades, verification of device operation, failure analysis, and a range of utility functions. Performance tools assist in troubleshooting bottlenecks and system configuration checks warn of common host issues. It also provides seamless integration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise support by generating and e-mailing test results and support tickets. Our support desk will require the use of this product to troubleshoot most device issues, so it is recommended that a support ticket is pulled and the device assessment test is run before calling.
HPE StoreOpen Software for LTFS has simplified the process of using linear tape file system (LTFS) making it easier to leverage this technology. LTFS makes tape self-describing, file-based, easy-to-use, and provides users with the ability to use standard file operations on tape media for accessing, managing, and sharing files with an interface that behaves just like a hard disk. HPE StoreOpen Software for LTFS provides a native GUI with a familiar look and feel to help LTFS users on Windows® and macOS to mount and use LTFS volumes. Linux® users access all LTFS functionality through easy-to-use command line tools.
