HPE Storage LTO Ultrium Tape Drives span nine generations of Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology, delivering up to 45 TB¹ of storage per cartridge and data transfer rates up to 300 MB/s native. Hardware-based AES 256-bit encryption helps protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access to tape cartridges. LTFS, an open format for storing data, makes tape media self-describing and file-based for easy access and management. Data rate matching dynamically adjusts the drive to the host system speed, helping maintain continuous streaming and optimize performance.

The HPE Storage MSL3040 Tape Library is a scalable, modular data protection solution designed for small to mid-sized environments. It starts with a fully functional 3U base unit that can be equipped with up to three drives and operates as a compact yet powerful backup and archival system. From there, it can scale up to 48U with expansion modules, supporting up to 640 cartridges and 48 half-height LTO tape drives for up to 28.8 PB of compressed storage using LTO-9. The Spectra TFinity Plus Tape Library delivers up to 45 exabytes (EB) of proven storage density packaged in a small footprint and offers scalability and speed to meet the requirements of the most demanding environments. Additional flexibility is provided through support of mixed media, both Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology and TS11xx technology, in the same library. Customers can also access and migrate data from legacy Oracle® T10000 media to both technologies. Using LTO technology, it can expand from 50 to 56,400 slots for 4.3 EB of compressed data. Using TS1170 technology, the library can expand from 45 to 42,930 slots for 6.45 EB of 3:1 compressed data. The tape library can support up to 168 drives with transfer rates of 241.9 TB per hour (725.8 TB per hour compressed) using TS1170 technology.
